The group Far East Mention Mannequins (FEMM) is made up of J-pop duo, SW-000000 (a.k.a RiRi) and MS-000000 (a.k.a LuLa), who are mannequin divas. In this world where everyone wants to be Beyonce or Lady Gaga it looks like we are going to have to get used to this kind’a stuff in world music. I first encountered them back in February on YouTube. I found their video for ‘Astroboy’. It’s a catchy tune and the video shows off their mannequin-ness, for a lack of better words. When I come across new songs I find myself either bobbin’ my head to it, or titling my head ever so slightly to the side and just listening and watching. I have had both reactions to FEMM’s videos.
FEMM was all fine and dandy with me until I came across their new release, ‘Fxxk Boys Get Money.’ I am glad that these mannequins equip their video with the actual lyrics you can read as you watch, because if you listen to their chorus, you would get a second meaning to the song. Maybe that is what they want. Their whole concept is built around world domination, not as women but as mannequins. Thus, I can see how they would value Benjamin’s over men!!. I wonder what Japan thinks of them. I just wonder.
