If you need to listen to music that just makes you feel good, check out the Italian artist Zucherro. His singing career dates back to the 1970’s, and he has shared the stage with the likes of Ray Charles, Eric Clapton and Randy Jackson. As a matter of fact, the Randy Jackson Band and Zucherro worked together a lot over the years. This veteran artist is truly awesome to listen to, when you need a pick-me-up.
I chose two of his videos to share with you today, ‘Chocabeck’, and ‘Vedo Nero’. I love the video for ‘Vedo Nero’. It reminds me of Robert Palmers addicted to love video mixed with Italian models gone wild. It’s such a feel good song that you don’t need a translation. I did look up vedo nero and I got the translation as “I see black.” My favorite part of the video is when the models show their italian panties. I thought that was really cute and patriotic of them.
‘Chocabeck’ is cool because just like Vedo Nero, this video is really down to earth. It gives you a sense of community because he uses regular people on the streets of Italy. When I looked up the meaning for chocabeck if found Zucherros explaination on the interwebs.
In the Reggiano dialect “choka” means “make a noise” and “beck” means “beak”. ”It was an expression my father used when I was a child. Whenever I asked him if there was anything to eat, rather than tell me there was nothing, he would say “A ghe di chocabeck” – “There’s chocabeck”. ”For ages I thought these “chocabecks” were really good to eat. I’m still looking forward to having some!!!” http://womad.org/artists/zucchero/
